OS Rugby Roars Back for 2026 – Players Wanted for Season-Opening Showdown
Sunday 6 September 2026 — The boots are coming out of retirement, rivalries are being reignited, and the call has gone out across the Old Stortfordian community: OS Rugby is back — and it needs you.
The much-anticipated OS Rugby Match 2026 will kick off at 11:00am on Sunday 6 September at Doggart Pavilion & Witherden Field, bringing together generations of players for what promises to be the biggest and boldest fixture yet.
Two Teams. One Legacy.
This year’s clash will see Under 23s take on Over 23s, a high-energy battle blending fresh talent with seasoned experience. The earlier spot on the calendar—chosen after strong player feedback—will maximise availability, sharpen competitiveness, and (hopefully) deliver late summer sunshine.
But the message is clear: both squads need players — and they need them now.

Playing for More Than Pride
At full-time, the winning side will lift the Billy Hookway Trophy, a heartfelt tribute to Billy Hookway (HH, 00–02) a member of the iconic unbeaten 2001 1st XV, remembered for his spirit, friendship, and lasting impact on the community who sadly passed away in August 2020 at the age of 36. His legacy will once again inspire the action on the field.
